Jefferson is a neighborhood school transforming into a college and career prep school in partnership with Federal and State GEAR UP programs. Jefferson’s college and career culture emphasizes the A-G high school requirements by providing Core Instruction as well as electives that integrate literacy based projects related to reading informational text and persuasive writing. The strong elective program offered at Jefferson includes classes like Career Technical Education (CTE), Digital Literacy, Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Art, and Spanish. Click here to check out our great electives!
The Oceanside Unified School District has put an emphasis to educate the “whole child” beyond academics. At Jefferson Middle School, our students and staff will be reviewing the 8 Keys of Excellence every week of the school year. Each month the district will utilize one of the 8 Keys of Excellence as a focal point for developing and enhancing character education.
The key for February is "Integrity". Living in Integrity menas that everything we and everything we do are true reflections of what we value, what's important to us. When we live in Integrity we are sincere and true to ourselves. People trust and respect us, our relationships are solid, and we feel good about ourselves. Those positive feelings from others and within ourselves reinforce our values and build our reputation and self-esteem, leading us to greater success in all areas of our lives.

Jefferson is home to the OCC Teacher of the Year!
Linda Kallas, our very own Art and Drama Teacher, was selected as the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and OUSD's Teacher of the Year! Believing that natural talent comes in a variety of shapes, forms, and sizes, Ms. Kallas has been creating artistic treasures with our Jefferson Falcons for the past 20 years. With compassion and respect, Ms. Kallas enthusiastically and vigorously shares her passion for the arts with the students she embraces as her own. Through her efforts, the Del Mar Fair has become a regular display venue for the many award-winning pieces she helps her students create each year. Ms. Kallas always stresses tolerance and has a knack for developing a unique rapport and lasting bonds with her students. On her own time, she volunteers at the Oceanside Museum of Art, implementing lessons for the children of Oceanside. Congratulations, Ms. Kallas!!!
